Past // Presence is a docupoetic collection that verges on confessional writing. Its 16 poems weave an intimate tapestry through loves past and present, tactile and spiritual. Diving deep into scenes of pain and surfacing into relative serenity, the writer connects to the bodies she’s inhabited through the lens of her PTSD. 

The guardedness of previous writing is done away with; this book is about the author claiming space for the complicated sympathy she has for those she loves. The four people she studies throughout this narrative of lyric poetry have shaped her, and in exploring their character she reveals truths about herself. Past // Presence is a document that illustrates how heartache transmutes into love, and how that love can live in a person.
