Mourning Son, Morning Daughter

2020

A second edition was created in fall 2024.

“This was the last book to be adorned with my birth name. It is an artifact representing the twilight of my masculine identity. The past self who created this book was scared and hurt but in the rising sun of womanhood she found hope.

In those final months I was worried that I couldn’t amount to a woman who could live in love and community. Four years on, I’ve pushed past doubt to become that woman and am fighting to maintain every inch me and my trans family have gained.

This book is an affirmation to my community that we can transform survival into a nourishment for those willing to receive it.”

First edition available at the Minneapolis Central Library.
